Services can be provided to reach or maintain stability, advocating or assisting in eligibility determination for food, housing, utility and transportation funding and referring to appropriate community resources. Staff who are fluent in ASL assist seniors in navigating the eligibility process for government programs, including acute and long-term health care. Since many of our seniors are native users of ASL, we assist them with written English correspondence, helping them identify scams, and respond to formal requests for information or action.

Additional support is available for routine shopping activities to include transportation to the store, reaching for products, reading labels, and transferring purchases from the store into their homes. Services are available in limited areas, please contact us for more information.

VCD is offering a service to “Shop For” individuals who want to limit risk of exposure in the marketplace. VCD staff obtain the shopping list from seniors, locates and purchases the items from local stores, and delivers the purchases to the senior. In addition, VCD is partnering with Tempe Community Council and Tempe Community Action Agency to pick up and deliver food boxes and some hot meals for seniors who are eligible for these programs during the pandemic.
